About the company

The HiLASE Centre is a high-tech laser research centre of the Institute of Physics of the Czech Academy of Sciences, located in Dolní Břežany. We focus on the research, development and application of next-generation laser technologies with strong potential for industry, space technologies, and defense and security applications. The Centre’s core expertise lies in high-power diode-pumped solid-state lasers and their use in demanding application environments. HiLASE develops advanced laser processing and structuring of materials, precision drilling, cutting and welding, Laser Shock Peening for surface enhancement, and testing of optical and structural materials exposed to intense laser radiation. These competences are highly relevant for the development of components for space missions, optical systems, sensors, laser targeting, object tracking and other defense-related technologies. By combining unique research infrastructure, a multidisciplinary team and close cooperation with industry, HiLASE contributes to strengthening the technological sovereignty, competitiveness and innovation capacity of the Czech Republic and Europe.
